What i have done so far is made a 'flash' of the back of the boat in grp and bonded that onto a plywood base--that will form a former or jig for the fabricator to work from. The bracket will be based on simple ones on this site eg the one on La Luz--as being the same steering system. Best wishes ste...

Just a quick update on this. During the autumn i had 2 bad anchoring experiences :during a difficult wind against tide anchorage my 10kg bruce set as a stern anchor (fore and aft moor) dragged really easily in dense mud --then when reverting to a single anchor i bumped with another boat in the middl...

That is a problem--i really like a solid tender and have a small walker bay--but have to tow it which isnt ideal although i did do that on the summer cruise --and still sailed the pants off a 35ft endurance ketch !!!

I have since ordered and taken delivery of the windpilot light. To get it fitted i have had to make a grp (flash) of the back of the boat (a lot of help from friends). In the new year i will get the stainless stel bracket made and fitted. Part of the reason for going with the idea of a slightly long...

What anchors are frances owners out there using and what do you think of their relative merits ??. WABI" , when i bought her was originally set up with a 25 lb cqr and a 25 lb fisherman. The cqr was on a nearly all chain rode of around 200 feet with the fisherman set up mainly on warp. Liking n...

Mine appears to be a formica like laminate over a plywood base. Some of it is scratched and dirty looking and i am trying to work out a way of getting it off the plywood base and having an alternative finish.

You may have to get one custom made--if they are the old alloy ones that i have as well then it is worth replacing with stainless steel. All you need is an old one as a pattern and take it to a ss fabricator.

Does anyone have a drawing of the shape and the dimensions of the backing plate. Although i can get the basic idea of the ...

La luz---is very much the inspiration for the refit of my own boat---and was the pictures of the boat provided the final push or me to buy a frances 26 myself. I am just trying to work out whether to opt for the pacific or the pacific light. At the moment i am in the final design stage of working ou...
