Mine looked just like that. There is no leaking when hard on the wind, the bolts look good, so I think it is just what happens with unencapsulated lead keels....

Sorry it has taken so long to respond--- I think any wind vane would work as long as it is properly installed. None of them will work, however, if the boat is not correctly balanced, which is pretty easy to achieve with our boats. If I had to do it again I'd get the most inexpensive, lightweight van...

I have moved the chain locker on Laluz back quite a bit---about one mtr forward of the mast. Back in Panama I replaced the Delta with a 15kg Rocna. I also started using 45mtrs 7mm high test spliced to 60 mtrs of 13mm three strand line. On long passages the Rocna is removed and stored in the cockpit ...
