Re: HIN on a 1982 Victoria Frances 26
On the Victoria built boats it is to be found on the port side aft quarter. However it is very small and moulded into the gel coat, so very difficult to find and read. On the V800 boats there is a second, “hidden” HIN somewhere on the inside. I am trying to find out if the Frances 26 also has this h...

The re built Navik is now in Malaysia, and my asking price is US$ 600.00.

Masthead rig modification.
I wish to convert my rig to a cutter. It is currently the standard Victoria 7/8 rig. Has anyone done this? My main concern is modifying the masthead for attaching the headstay and installing a sheave first the halyard. Any photos of either the “standard“ Proctor masthead, or better yet, a masthead r...

Re: Wind vane self steering using a trim tab on the rudder.
I eventually found and bought two Navik wind vane self steering systems from New Zealand. I have refurbished both of them, one I am busy installing on my Frances 26, and the other is for sale.

Re: Just bought a Frances 26'
Hi Pedro, I have also just bought a Frances 26, and have started some upgrades. The first is to replace the old 8 HP Yanmar with a Beta 14, change the rig to masthead forestay and Solent stay, twin backstays and all 6mm. Fitting a Navik Windvane, Optimus kerosene stove and new instruments. I single ...

Re: Just bought a Frances 26
I finally managed to get Jill, my Frances 26 out of Singapore. My first voyage was a single handed passage of 450nm up to Langkawi in Malaysia. I am very happy with the boat, and have re registered, and renamed her “Inyoni”, which is the Zulu word for little bird. I have started the upgrades, first ...

Foredeck hatch?
As I will probably be sailing mostly in the tropics, I am seriously considering the installation of a hatch in the foredeck, to aid ventilation. None of the photos of Frances 26’s that I have seen, have a hatch there. Anyone else done it?

Just bought a Frances 26
Hi All, my name is Bill Robinson, and I have just bought a Frances 26, that I have not seen, and do not know when I will be able to take possession. The boat is in Singapore, and due to Covid travel restrictions, there is currently no way that I can get to her. Starting to plan the upgrades though, ...

Wind vane self steering using a trim tab on the rudder.
I have just become the proud owner of a Frances 26, and one of the first things that I plan to do is install wind vane self steering. I would love a Navik, but they are out of production and very scarce. Another possibility that I am considering is to build a trim tab on the rudder, controlled by a ...
