Re: Frances 26 Regatta results

Hello Eric, I converted my Frances 26 to a sloop rig when I purchased her. The sloop rig was better suited to the sailing I do and with a roller furling jib and reefing mainsail, I am able to adjust sail area for most conditions . The boat was handicapped as a sloop in the race. Mark SV Seabird

Re: Bridge clearance

I believe my Frances has a 41' clearance. Not standard . I am told original owner installed a taller rig than factory std.

Pintles and Gudgeons

My rudder had worn the rudder pin hole to the point that there was too much slop in the tiller so I had some new pintles and gudgeons cast. For anyone out there that may need to replace original pintles and gudgeons I have patterns available if you need to have a set cast up. I will make a drawing a...

Re: Engine repower

Hello Eric, As I mentioned , I had a Universal Atomic diesel. I chose thes the Beta 14 since it was designed to mount on the same mount centers. It is a compact unit and well thought out for ease of maintaining as well. I did have to re prop as the trans ration was different. I went with a re-pitche...

Great looking work and progress. Glad you had the initiative and imagination to take her from the yard in CT and
give her a new life.

Re: Sails availabe to a good hoome

Hello Truant, Congrats on your Frances. Anxious to see some pics. I looked at the boat in MD several years back. Glad she found a good home. Where will you sail her? I am down on the Rappahannock River in the Kilmarnock area. I also found my Frances at a marina in MD across the bay from Truant ..Cut...

Re: Frances 26 Wanted

Pinch My boat is currently in a marina in VA where there is a UK built ( Victoria 26 ) as well. I am told by the yard who has done work on her that she is not as well made as the Frances. There is a owners association on the Morris site where they show where there various models are ported. They som...

Re: Frances 26 Wanted

Hello Pinch I sail Seabird mostly by myself. Easy to handle and well behaved. The boat was a cutter rig but I removed the staysail hardware and just sail her as a sloop. I see that there is another Francis for sale on Yachtworld which is a UK built trunk cabin model. I have had a number of different...

Re: Frances 26 Wanted

Hello Pinch, Did you check out Satym that was on Yachtworld. I know it has been for sale for quite awhile. Where are you located and where do you plan to sail ? I have the Frances 26 named Seabird which I purchased a few years back. Great sailing boats and not hard on the eyes either Best to you Mark

Re: New to forum. I've got a couple questions.

Tom,

10 year moratorium ? Man..she is tough. You should keep your eyes peeled as they generally do not come on the market too often. When they do they usually move fast if they in any kind of shape for the price. Where do you plan to sail her
should you find one?

Best

Re: New to forum. I've got a couple questions.

Hello Tom Welcome to the forum. Cannot speak much to the tankage issue. My boat has flexible tanks port and starboard just forward of galley and chart table. Expanding this capacity in other areas under berths with additional flexible tanks may be the best option as some of these spaces are irregula...

Frances 26 Regatta results

:D Had a great time for a good cause at the Hospice Turkey Shoot Regatta in Irvington VA . Some of you may be interested in how the boat performs. While this is a good time handicapped race , the Frances turned in a respectable performance in a division of 11 boats crossing the finish line first but...
