Why this site exists.
You may be wondering why a person would post a site dedicated to a single, somewhat obscure sailboat, long since out of production. Easy enough; I like the Frances 26 and I built this site to collect all the Frances pics and info I have gathered over the years in one place. Partially for my own viewing pleasure and partially to share with other appreciators of fine sailboats. Enjoy with my complements.
If you happen to be fortunate enough to own a Frances, consider sending me some pictures and information so I can add your Frances to the collection.
This site has a FORUM available, so stop in and meet owners and Frances enthusiasts.
It is quite possible that I have mis-matched pictures or got something wrong. Let me know.
The legalese: I am not a lawyer (IANAL), but to my mind, much of this site represents a blatant infringement on who knows how many copyrights, most notably the texts and pictures culled from books and magazines. Promoting this boat, and those who have written about her and photographed her, can only be good for all the parties; and I shall attempt to credit and link wherever I can. Email me for your link if it doesn't exist. If I am infringing on your copyright and you don't approve, let me know (politely) and I will (contemplate) pull(ing) the offending material. My philosophy here is that it is better to ask for forgiveness, than for permission.
Second, the ads: I am running ads to help kick in for server costs. Sorry. Feel free to ignor them or run an ad blocker. (I use a combination of AdBlockPlus & NoScript to avoid the truely annoying ad abusers).
Thirdly, server plug: This site is hosted on a Linode virtual server. Linode is the best host I have used, and I have used many. Full disclosure, if you click on the link and sign up, I get a credit. But you'll be happy.
